How to Screen Record Gaming Clips on Android

Clip recording isn't just for PC and consoles; you can do it on your phone too. Curious how to easily record and share clips from any mobile games? From Among Us to Call of Duty Mobile (or whatever else you're playing on the go), here's how to record and share your mobile gaming moments on phone or tablet:

Game recording and clipping on mobile

Sometimes, things happen on mobile that you need to save and/or share:

  • You opened your first ever god pack in Pokemon TCG Pocket
  • You screamed and cried through your first Zhongli pull
  • You want to show off how decent COD looks on mobile (ignore the self 'nade)

Luckily, with Medal Recorder on Mobile, you can always be prepared to grab a clip of what just happened.

Here’s how to record mobile games using Medal:

Step 1
Download Medal Recorder from Google Play: it’s lightweight and runs in the background while you game, and optionally captures game and mic audio.

Step 2
Simply tap the Medal button to create a clip of what just happened in game. Since you often don't know that something cool is happening until after it happens, the recording is retroactive. In settings, you can adjust recording quality, clip length, which audio to capture, and more.

Step 3 (optional but strongly recommended)
Access your newly captured clips in the Medal Mobile app, where you can publish and share them easily.

It really is that simple to capture your mobile games using Medal Android Recorder, ideally combined with the Medal app. Good luck!

Other options for mobile game recording

A few other mobile screen recording tools do exist, of course.

Your phone's screen recorder: The most obvious recording option is any built-in screen recorder that your phone or tablet might already have. The downside is that this tool is not retroactive, which means you'll need to start (and end) a recording ahead of time. Considering how long a gaming session is, you might eat through your phone's storage space immediately.

AZ Screen Recorder and Mobizen Screen Recorder: Similarly to a built-in screen recorder, these apps only offer proactive recording features (aka you have to tell it to start a recording, rather than capture what just happened).

Glip Screen Recorder: Similarly to Medal, Glip Screen Recorder seems to offer retroactive screen recording, albeit with more limited options around galleries, editing, and sharing.

So ultimately, yes we're a bit biased, but we really do believe that the Medal Android RecorderMedal app is one of the best ways to record games on mobile. That's why we made it, after all.
