How to get more views on Medal

No clout? Medal is unique from most platforms because you don’t need thousands of followers to get traction on your clips. There are a few easy ways to get views and easily break into the "Weekly Top 10" of your favorite games.
Even a couple of likes or comments can go a long way on Medal. Our algorithm rewards engagement: getting just 1 or 2 likes can help rocket your clip into thousands of feeds. So how do you get those initial few likes (and more)?
1. Get your friends on Medal
Your first engagements are typically with the people you're friendly with. Tag your friends in any of your clips that they're in. They’ll get a notification, and be more likely to like or comment. You can also just ask folks to drop a like or comment. Having even one ride-or-die who engages with your clips makes a huge difference.
2. A little effort goes a long way
Realistically, people have short attention spans.
Say you post a mostly silent clip that's 2 minutes long: that's asking a lot for someone to sit through and hope they find the good part.
Use the built-in editor to trim the fluff and get to the good stuff fast. Don't be afraid to go as short as 5-30 seconds (or montage a bunch of short clips together). Add a fun title, memes, captions, music, and sound effects to provide context and make your clips more enjoyable to watch.
3. Use hashtags
Use up to 5 relevant hashtags per post, so your clip is shown not just on the game's page, but also to anyone searching Medal for #repofails, #funnydeaths, or #goldshipattackingcamera
4. Audio is important
Statistically, clips with audio beyond just the game tend to do better than silent ones, so make sure you're capturing your own mic, the game, and whoever you might be talking with in Discord. Sound, especially reactions, yells, laughs, etc. give clips context and just make them more fun. Games with positional audio (like R.E.P.O, Lethal Company, and Peak) tend to do well because of this.
5. Share outside Medal
If your clip has that special something, share it to Discord, Reddit, TikTok, and anywhere else your people are. The more eyes you get on your clip, the more engagement you bring back to your profile (especially so if they're Medal users and interact with the clip!)
6. Comment, like, and follow other Medal users
Especially if you have games in common, drop comments or likes on other people's clips. They're more likely to drop by your profile and do the same! It's okay if you don't have friends, you can always find some <3
TL;DR:
- A few likes or comments on a clip can boost it a lot
- Tag your friends, get them to like/comment
- Use edits, memes, captions, hashtags, and fun titles
- Keep your clips short and preferably with audio
- Share your clip on and off Medal
If your clip does gain some traction, it might work its way into the Weekly Top 10 for that game. From there, you might notice a lot more views! So have fun clipping, and see you on Medal ♡\( ̄▽ ̄)/♡
